Hi! I’m Christa Haryanto (she/they).
Currently based in Chicago, IL

Education:
(pending) University of Chicago ‘26
MA - Humanities with Concentration in Cinema and Media Studies

University of Southern California - School of Cinematic Arts ‘23
MFA - Interactive Media and Game Design
Graduate Certificate — Digital Media and Culture (via Media Arts + Practice)

Vassar College ‘19
BA - Media Studies and Political Science

My research sits at the intersection of game design, memory studies, and interactive media, with a focus on the domestic spaces as sites of personal and political archive. I'm passionate about media theory, the politics of the subalternity and labor, and what it means to build an experimental and hybrid art and research-based praxis.

My creative practice extends across installation, yarn and fiber arts, sculpture, video art, games, and collage forms, using methods drawn from rapid prototyping, experience design, and play-centric design alongside craft traditions and mediums. I'm drawn to the places where the digital and the handmade meet — where a crocheted dollhouse and a walking simulator and a theoretical framework become different ways of asking the same questions about memory, girlhood, the internet, and personal archive.
